Whence The Wind Came
While immersed in the Cheer’s-like atmosphere of Hubbard & Cravens last week, Mack Earnhardt called one of his friends that “would be perfect for this research project”. Though already pressed for time, Mack’s enthusiasm was contagious. From the moment Robby “interrupted” the interview with Mack, I sensed that this would be a meeting I would always remember.
Robby Slaughter, principal of Slaughter Development, LLC, has the personality type that I have always gravitated towards: irregular, uncommon, and at times obscenely refreshing. Having absolutely no frame of reference as to who this person was or what he did, I attempted to start small by asking “tell me about yourself”, immediately realizing how ineffective that question truly is. Nonetheless, the answer I got was far more informative than I expected: “I’m a troublemaker”. From Austin, Texas, as well, which holds much meaning to one who has always lusted to live there.
Then I asked about his company, again being vague with my verbiage and getting concise statements holding more depth than I anticipated. Succinctly, Slaughter Development provides productivity and work flow solutions. People are effective when they are satisfied. Understanding how to satisfy your employees isn’t always easy, and this is one of the many areas where Robby excels. Contact @robbyslaughter to learn more on how to increase the success of your work flow and decrease the amount of your workload.
A Refreshing View On Design
In your own words, what is “design”?
Design is the process of intentional creation of space, form, motion, & objective.
What is the purpose of design?
The purpose of design is to provide a common framework for human interaction. E.g. A coffee sleeve affords action to complete it’s purpose. Seeing the sleeve encourages a person to hold the cup where the sleeve is instead of at another point of contact on the cup, allowing them to avoid injury.
Have you ever contracted the services of a professional designer? Was that project successful?
Yes, for the Slaughter Development logo. I was satisfied, and it was a good solution for the amount I spent on it.
Successful Business Processes
What is the most profitable business process you use?
Blogging, by far. Our blog encourages readers to ask more questions about the services we provide, opening the door for them to feel more comfortable asking these questions.
Have you measured the success of this process?
Yes, as a representative measurement but not comprehensive.
What measurable results would you want to see from design?
It is impossible to actually measure the impact that a design has on the entire audience. That impact is intangible and cannot be represented by scientific measurements. Instead, demonstrating your scientific approach throughout the process would be substantial.
