A few weeks ago, the format of the Point Brake site changed from a simple portfolio to using in-depth case studies to analyze the results we have provided for our clients. After all, if our work doesn’t generate results, then we have not achieved the true purpose of design. It only makes sense as a design strategy studio with the sole purpose of providing clients with results that we display comprehensive results of our efforts instead of just displaying eye candy.
Writing these in-depth analyses is more difficult than I had anticipated, and the Wineland Tax & Business Services case study gave me a bit of trouble. To write the case studies, I followed the template provided by the AIGA so that, when all projects have been fully analyzed, I can submit them to their archives to benefit the entire design community and beyond. The template itself threw me off, as it made me think too much about what I was writing and how I “should” write it instead of thinking about the actual subject at hand. Another struggle I have encountered, especially with the WT case study, is that the actual measurable results will not be recorded for another six months.
Regardless of the struggles and frustrations encountered, there are now two case studies available for viewing on the site. Each project had completely different objectives, parameters, and target markets. Each client was also very different. With Shade of Green Living, I was able to have a bit more creative reign with the aesthetic approach. Such an approach would not be appropriate for a tax & business services provider. Two completely different approaches, both yielding the same level of results.
More case studies will soon come as I continue to push through my frustrations with writing them, and both of the current case studies will be updated as results continue to be recorded.
